Vaibhav Sooryavanshi receives maiden call-up for India as the Men’s Selection Committee has announced the India A cricket team squad for the upcoming one-day tri-series in Sri Lanka, which is scheduled to take place in June 2026. The tournament will feature the Sri Lanka A team, the India A team and the Afghanistan A team. The squad will be led by Tilak Varma, accompanied by Riyan Parag as vice-captain. After the completion of the white-ball tri-series, India A will also play two multi-day matches against Sri Lanka A in Galle. Meanwhile, the Indian senior team for the upcoming Test series against Afghanistan is likely to be announced on May 19. Team India has to play an ODI and Test series against Afghanistan in June. Reportedly, Jasprit Bumrah is likely to be rested while Ishan Kishan is likely to return in the ODI set-up. However, Ravindra Jadeja’s selection for the Test and ODIs remains doubtful. He was earlier a part of the U-19 and rising star India squad. Sooryavanshi’s 175-run knock in the U-19 World Cup against England is still fresh in the mind. India A to play white-ball tri-series vs SL AFG Tilak Varma is set to lead the 15-member squad, accompanied by Riyan Parag (vice-captain). Team India A are scheduled to play a white-ball tri-series starting on 9 June in Sri Lanka against Sri Lanka and Afghanistan. The final of the tri-series is to be held on 21 June. All the limited-overs matches will be played in Dambulla. After the completion of the white-ball tri-series, India A will also play two multi-day matches against Sri Lanka A in Galle. The selectors are expected to announce the squad for the red-ball fixtures at a later stage. Ishan Kishan to return in ODIs, Bumrah might be rested against Afghanistan The possibility of Ishan Kishan’s return has increased. According to reports, his name was also discussed in previous selection meetings. The team management considers his ability to bat left-handed and bat at any position as important. His performance has also been good after his return in T20s. Despite Ishan’s return, KL Rahul could be the first choice of the team. Meanwhile, according to reports, Jasprit Bumrah may be rested for the one-off Test against Afghanistan, as this match is not part of the World Test Championship.
