After Amul and Mother Dairy, Madhya Pradesh-based Sanchi Dairy Federation has also increased milk prices, giving another inflation hit to consumers. Sanchi has raised milk prices by ₹2 per litre, with the new rates coming into effect from May 15. Earlier, the dairy federation had revised prices on May 7 last year. Sanchi records the highest consumption among packaged milk brands in Bhopal. More than 7.5 lakh litres of packaged milk are sold daily in the city. Amul’s daily consumption stands at around 90,000 litres. Apart from this, brands such as Saurabh, Shridhi and Mother Dairy also sell packaged milk in the city. Saurabh and Shridhi together record consumption of over 1 lakh litres daily in Bhopal and nearby rural areas, while Mother Dairy’s milk is mainly consumed within the city. Loose milk sells more than packed In Bhopal, loose milk sales continue to remain higher than packaged milk sales. Daily consumption of loose milk is estimated at nearly 10 lakh litres. A few days ago, prices of loose milk were also increased by up to ₹2 per litre. However, loose milk still remains nearly ₹10 per litre cheaper compared to packaged milk. The Bhopal Milk Union issued the revised price order on Thursday. New rates of Amul-Mother Dairy implemented Before Sanchi’s announcement, Amul and Mother Dairy had increased milk prices by up to ₹2 per litre on Wednesday. The revised rates of both companies came into effect from Thursday, May 14, and consumers started receiving milk at the new prices from the same day. According to the Gujarat Cooperative Milk Marketing Federation, the decision was taken due to rising costs of cattle feed, packaging and fuel. Amul stated that the overall increase ranges between 2.5% and 3.5%. Amul has increased milk prices for the first time since May 2025, while Mother Dairy had last revised prices in April 2025. Amul has the highest consumption after Sanchi After Sanchi, Amul records the second-highest milk consumption in Madhya Pradesh. More than 3.5 lakh litres of Amul milk are consumed daily across the state. Indore accounts for the highest sales, with nearly 1.25 lakh litres sold every day. In Bhopal, Jabalpur and Gwalior, daily consumption ranges between 50,000 and 90,000 litres.
