CCTV footage has emerged of 7-year-old Ved drowning in a hotel swimming pool in Gwalior. In this footage from Wednesday night, it can be seen that Ved was enjoying a pool party with his family. He came out of the pool after swimming. Then just a few minutes later, he jumped in again. This time, Ved mistakenly jumped into the 5-feet deep section of the pool instead of the 2-feet shallow area. He struggled for a long time to come out of the water. He thrashed about a lot but couldn’t get out and within a few minutes sank into the depths. Surprisingly, during this time several people were present in the pool. But neither did any member of Ved’s family notice him nor did the hotel staff. Two boys were standing right near where Ved drowned. They kept chatting with each other. Another boy also passed by that same spot walking through the water, but Ved didn’t collide with him. The family has leveled serious negligence charges against Prince Mama Hotel manager Raghavendra Singh. They say that there were no markings or boards installed to indicate the depth of the pool. There were neither life jackets for children nor any trained lifeguard present at the spot. Body exhumed for postmortem after burial The incident is from the night of May 11 at Prince Mama Hotel on AB Road in the Girwai police station area of Gwalior. Where 7-year-old Ved Pal, who had gone for a pool party with his family, died after drowning in the swimming pool. The family had buried the child’s body around 1 AM on Monday-Tuesday night, but the matter reached the police on Tuesday evening. The child’s father Dinesh Pal and uncle Devendra Pal reached Girwai police station and informed about the incident. They demanded exhumation of the body and post-mortem to determine the negligence of the hotel management. On Wednesday, the police exhumed the child’s body from Laxmiganj Muktidhaam and sent it for post-mortem. After conducting the post-mortem by a panel of doctors, the body was handed back to the family. SP said, ‘Will match footage and postmortem report’ ASP Jayraj Kuber said, “The pool party was organized by Ved’s uncle Devendra’s friends. The hotel’s CCTV footage and postmortem report will be matched. The role of hotel management and people organizing the pool party will also be investigated.” Post navigation Ken-Betwa link project row deepens:Women stage protest lying on funeral bier; activist Amit Bhatnagar detained again after release Ken-Betwa project eviction turns violent in Dhodan:Villagers clash with police; attack bulldozers, several Injured
