Gujarat Titans (GT) and Rajasthan Royals (RR) played out a pretty entertaining clash at the Sawai Mansingh Stadium in Jaipur, a game which saw the former come out on top by 77 runs on 9 May. The match saw big changes in the points table with GT moving to the second spot and RR slipping from the top four. Batting first, GT posted 229/4, riding on half-centuries from captain Shubman Gill (84) and Sai Sudharsan (55). In response, Rashid Khan and Jason Holder took seven wickets among themselves as the Gujarat Titans bowled out RR for 152 in 16.3 overs. After the match, several reactions poured in on social media with Gill teasing the Rajasthan Royals with a witty caption on his Instagram post. Rashid Khan also appeared to take a dig at Ravindra Jadeja over his pocket celebration. This was not the first time that Jadeja performed this celebration, having done it against the Lucknow Super Giants earlier. After the match, GT shared a video on their social media which showed Rashid perform his own version of the ‘pocket’ celebration. The video, which has gone viral, showed Rashid take a piece of paper out of his pocket, which had ‘+2’ written on it, symbolising the two points GT got from this win. Shubman Gill’s playful dig at Rajasthan Royals Apart from his batting and captaincy this season, GT captain Shubman Gill has made a reputation for himself for his witty Instagram posts after his team’s victories. These posts essentially are playful digs directed at the team that Gujarat Titans beat. In this case, Gill teased Rajasthan Royals with a playful dig. In an Instagram post, the GT captain shared snaps from and after the match and captioned the post, “Pink city, blue result. Khamma Ghani.” Gill celebrated his team’s win over the Royals in Jaipur, a place called the ‘Pink City’. ‘Khamma Ghani’ in the Marwari language means ‘welcome.’ Aakash Chopra, Irfan Pathan praise Shubman Gill’s captaincy Former cricketers Aakash Chopra and Irfan Pathan were among those who were extremely impressed with Gill’s captaincy. The India Test and ODI captain stood out with a stellar 84-run knock against RR and later, was superb with his bowling changes to set up his team’s victory. Chopra, in a video on social media, lauded Gill for crossing 400+ runs in an IPL season for the seventh consecutive time. The cricketer-turned-commentator lauded Gill for using Mohammed Siraj and Kagiso Rabada constantly inside the powerplay, a move that has been a recipe for success for the Titans. Irfan Pathan also echoed Chopra as he too lauded Gill’s captaincy and batting.
