Gujarat Titans (GT) defeated the Rajasthan Royals (RR) by 77 runs in match 42 of IPL 2026 at the Sawai Mansingh Stadium in Jaipur on 9 May. With this victory, the Gujarat Titans moved to the second spot on the points table. On the other hand, the Rajasthan Royals suffered their fifth loss in six matches and slipped to the fifth place. The youngster started his innings the usual way, with a six, this time against Mohammed Siraj. But the GT pacer had the last laugh, dismissing the RR youngster with a short ball. Before the short ball was bowled, the camera showed Gujarat Titans head coach Ashish Nehra pointing to his head, a gesture that could have hinted at bowling a short delivery. And the plan worked, with Sooryavanshi miscuing a pull shot and being caught by Arshad Khan. Siraj let out a massive roar after dismissing Sooryavanshi. 3) Vaibhav Sooryavanshi writhes in pain after smashing ball onto his boot Before being dismissed for a 16-ball 36, Sooryavanshi experienced a painful moment at the crease when he inside-edged a pacy delivery onto his foot. This was just the third ball of the innings when Siraj bowled an inswinging yorker. Sooryavanshi attempted to go hard at the ball but only ended up getting an inside edge. Top Records of RR vs GT match 1. Vaibhav Sooryavanshi played 514 balls for 100 sixes
In this match, Rajasthan’s Vaibhav Suryavanshi set a record for completing the fastest 100 sixes in T20. He achieved this feat in the very first over. Vaibhav broke West Indies’ Kieron Pollard’s record by completing 100 sixes in 514 balls. Pollard had played 843 balls.
2. Archer equalled the record for the longest IPL over
The first over of the match was bowled by Jofra Archer for Rajasthan. It took him 11 balls to complete this over. In this over, he conceded 18 runs, including 4 wides and one no-ball. This was also jointly the longest over in IPL history.
