range-rover-sv-becomes-₹75-lakh-cheaper:available-at-₹3.50-crore;-impact-of-india-uk-trade-deal

Jaguar Land Rover (JLR) India has reduced the price of its most premium SUV Range Rover SV, imported from Britain, by ₹75 lakh, after which its ex-showroom price has now become ₹3.5 crore. Earlier its price was ₹4.25 crore. This reduction has been made before the implementation of the Free Trade Agreement between India and Britain. The company has also reduced the price of Range Rover Sport SV Edition Two by 40 lakh rupees, which will now be available at ₹2.35 crore. The new prices have been implemented with immediate effect. Import duty will be reduced from 110% to 30% A Comprehensive Economic and Trade Agreement (CETA) was signed between India and Britain on July 24, 2025. Under this agreement, the import duty on large cars that are completely built units (CBU) coming from Britain will be reduced from 110% to 30% in the first year. By the 5th year, this duty will be reduced to just 10%. This rule will apply to models with petrol engines above 3,000cc and diesel engines above 2,500cc. 3 Major Points About Price Changes: Second Consecutive Reduction: Following GST 2.0 reforms, prices were reduced by up to ₹30.4 lakh in September 2025 as well. This is the second major change within a year. Paint Scheme Update: The Range Rover SV will now come with Ultra Metallic paint (gloss and satin finish) as standard. New Variant Coming Soon: According to sources, the company will soon launch a new standard SV variant of the Range Rover Sport, which will be priced at approximately ₹2.05 crore. Defender and Discovery Prices Will Not Change The company has clarified that there will be no changes in the prices of locally assembled models in India such as Range Rover Standard, Sport, Evoque, and Velar. Additionally, the prices of ‘Defender’ and ‘Discovery’ will also remain the same, as these are manufactured in Slovakia and do not fall under the India-UK Trade Deal. However, the company is considering local assembly of the Defender. Powerful Engine: Car Generates 635hp Power Both these SV variants of Range Rover are equipped with a 4.4-litre twin-turbo V8 petrol engine. In the Range Rover SV, this engine delivers 540hp of power, while in the Range Rover Sport SV, it generates 635hp of power and 800Nm of torque. These Brands Will Also Benefit This deal with Britain will benefit not only JLR, but also other British luxury brands like Bentley, Rolls-Royce, Aston Martin and McLaren. However, an annual quota has been set for this (20,000 vehicles in the first year), which will be shared among all British brands.
