Shahbaz dies after hearing of friend’s death:Drives 1 km to hospital despite injuries; jostling during wedding leads to double murder

My husband had gone to a wedding. Does anyone take someone’s life over a small argument? My two young children have become orphans… The culprits should be hanged. These are the words of Chanchal Rawat, wife of Anand Rawat, whose husband was murdered in a minor dispute. On the night of May 3 in Ratlam, a dispute during a wedding procession, triggered by jostling while dancing to a DJ, turned violent. Anand Rawat and his friend Shahbaz Khan, alias Ashu, were stabbed to death. In a poignant turn, injured Shahbaz drove Anand 1.5 km to the hospital on his bike, but after learning of Anand’s death, he too succumbed. Piyush Rawat was seriously injured. Both deceased were primary earners for their families and left behind young children. Matter settled once with persuasion According to GRP Police Station In-charge Sohan Patidar, a dispute arose between Rohit Khandkar and Roger Binny due to a push while dancing during a wedding procession in the GRP Old Railway Quarter area, which was settled at that time. Around 11:30 PM, Piyush Rawat was standing with his cousin Anand and friend Shahbaz when Roger Binny arrived. He said, I had a dispute with Munna and Rohit Khandkar. Meanwhile, Munna and Rohit arrived with their companions.They started arguing with Roger Binny. Amidst the altercation, Munna and Rohit attacked. Piyush was hit on the head with a brick, while Anand and Shahbaz were stabbed with a knife. Anand and Shahbaz had nothing to do with the dispute According to Rohit Rawat, the younger brother of the deceased Anand, Anand and Shahbaz had no direct involvement in the dispute. They had only gone to mediate as friends. Both were attacked while trying to save the injured Piyush. It is alleged that the attackers fled the scene, and Anand and Shahbaz chased them for about 500 meters, where they were again attacked with knives. Doctors said – both had severe internal injuries According to family members, Shahbaz himself was injured, but he kept pleading to save his friend Anand. As soon as Anand died, he fell into the doctor’s lap. It was then discovered that he had been stabbed in the back. He also died in the hospital. According to Dr. Ankit Jain, both had severe internal injuries. Families in grief Anand used to work in a private factory. His family includes his wife, elderly mother, and two young children. Meanwhile, Shahbaz used to work in the railway station’s parking lot. He also has two young children. After the incident, grief has spread in both families. Allegations of attacks at two places, investigation ongoing Family members claim that the stabbing occurred at two different locations, while the police are currently stating that the incident happened at only one location. As the case is linked to two police station areas, the investigation has been handed over to the GRP. Police have registered a case against the accused Rohit Khandkar and Munna Khandkar. Both accused are also injured and admitted to the hospital. Since the incident, family members have been demanding strict action and capital punishment against the accused. Piyush and Shahbaz are neighbours The houses of Piyush, who was injured in the stabbing, and the deceased Shahbaz are nearby in PNT Colony, while the deceased Anand and the injured Piyush are cousins. Kusum Rawat, mother of the injured Piyush, said that my brother risked his life to save my son. According to mother, Kusum, I spoke to my son at 10:05 AM. I had told him – my BP is low. I had ordered chocolate and ice cream, then he said, ‘Mom, I’m bringing it.’ He didn’t come in 10 minutes. My son is on a ventilator.
