Sampada 2.0 — Technology or torture?:No geo-tagging, unstable servers; overseas registrations incomplete, chaos at registrar offices

When the Sampada-2 software was implemented in 2025, it was claimed that people wouldn’t need to visit registrar offices repeatedly and could even register documents from abroad. However, this facility has remained limited to wills and power of attorney. People continue to face issues like OTP-server failures and incorrect geo-tagging, leading to overcrowded registrar offices. Recently, lawyers from the registration office wrote to the Senior District Registrar and the IG of the Registration Department, warning of protests if the system does not improve. The advocate panel has also sent notices to the Chief Secretary, Principal Secretary (Commercial Tax Department), IG Registrar, and DIG Registrar. When the certified copy of the document was received, it had a watermark stating ‘Incomplete Registration’. When tried again, the dates were changed.
