Chennai Super Kings (CSK) beat the Mumbai Indians (MI) by eight wickets in what turned out to be a one-sided match in IPL 2026 at the MA Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai on 2 May. With this, CSK also did a double over MI after their 103-run win from earlier on in the season. Mumbai Indians’ season went for bad to worse as the Hardik Pandya-led outfit suffered what was a seventh loss in nine matches this season. The CSK vs MI match however witnessed some interesting moments. Let’s take a look at them. CSK vs MI Top Moments 1) Ruturaj Gaikwad angry at Urvil Patel for mix-up during catch CSK captain Ruturaj Gaikwad was not very happy with Urvil Patel after the two had a mix-up while taking a catch. This incident happened in the 13th over of the first innings, bowled by Noor Ahmad and Tilak attempted a slog. But instead, he miscued the ball. And Gaikwad at cover attempted the catch. But Urvil, fielding nearby, also headed for the catch. The two were involved in a slight mix-up but Gaikwad ended up taking the catch. After taking the catch, he seemed displeased at Urvil, but the two shared smiles while celebrating the wicket. 2) Anshul Kamboj hits Krish Bhagat with throw This happened in the very last over of the first innings when Krish Bhagat attempted to dig out a wide yorker and ran to complete a single. Samson fielded the ball and sent the throw for Kamboj who caught the ball. Just as Bhagat was about to enter the non-striker’s end, Kamboj threw the ball which struck the Mumbai Indians player on his back. 3) Kartik Sharma’s ‘gun’ celebration Kartik Sharma performed a ‘gun’ celebration with his bat after scoring his maiden IPL fifty. This happened in the 18th over bowled by Krish Bhagat when Kartik took a single to get to his fifty. After reaching the landmark for the first time in his IPL career, he held his bat like a gun and made a ‘firing’ gesture to celebrate the achievement. 4) Tilak Varma’s wristwatch comes off after being hit by ball Tilak Varma’s wristwatch came off after he was struck by a ball on his hand while playing a shot. This happened in the 12th over of the first innings when the left-hander tried to play the lap shot but missed the ball. Instead, he was struck on his wrist and his watch came off. 5) Ramkrishna Ghosh’s brilliant catch on IPL debut In just the second over of the match, Chennai’s Ramakrishna Ghosh, making his IPL debut, took a spectacular catch. On the second ball of Anshul Kamboj’s over, Will Jacks stepped out of the crease to play a big shot. The ball took the outer edge of the bat and went towards backward point. Running forward, Ghosh dived and caught the ball with both hands just a few inches above the ground. 6) Noor Ahmad’s ‘No-Look’ Celebration Noor Ahmad did a unique celebration after dismissing Mumbai’s batter Ryan Rickelton. Noor trapped Rickelton on the fourth ball of the seventh over. Rickelton, attempting a slog sweep, hit the ball straight into the hands of Urvil Patel standing at deep backward square leg. After taking the wicket, Noor Ahmad placed his hands over his eyes and did a ‘no-look’ celebration. Usually, batters play no-look shots. 7) Shivam Dube dropped Naman Dhir’s dolly catch In the seventh over of Mumbai’s innings, Shivam Dube dropped an easy catch. On the fourth ball of the over, Noor Ahmad bowled at a speed of 95 kmph. Naman Dhir went on the back foot and tried to play a cut shot. The ball took the edge of the bat and went into the hands of Dube, standing at short third man, but Dube could not hold the catch. Naman was playing on 19 runs at that time.
