Indian golf’s renowned player Vijay Kumar passed away on Tuesday in Lucknow due to a heart attack. He was 57 years old. The Professional Golf Tour of India (PGTI) has expressed heartfelt condolences to his family, friends, fellow players, and fans. Amandeep Johl, CEO of PGTI, said, ‘Vijay was one of the finest professionals in Indian golf. He was chosen as the Player of the Year four times, for which he received the Order of Merit title. In 2002, he made history by winning the Indian Open. He was among only nine golfers in the country who had won the Indian Open title. He made golf his profession in 1988. He dominated Indian domestic golf from the mid-1990s to the beginning of the next decade. He also represented India at the Alfred Dunhill Cup in St Andrews, Scotland, in 1999.
