congress-to-stage-road-blockade-on-agra-mumbai-highway-on-may-7:party-plans-major-movement-on-farmers’-issues,-all-district-presidents-to-participate

Congress is going to launch a major agitation regarding farmers’ demands, in which presidents of all districts will participate. The party has decided that on May 7, a road blockade will be organized at various places on the Agra-Mumbai Road from Morena to Sendhwa, so that the government’s attention can be drawn towards farmers’ problems. This route connects Morena to Sendhwa via Indore through the National Highway. In Indore, the location for the agitation is being finalized, and it is likely that farmers will gather on the bypass and stage a road blockade. Earlier, State Congress President Jitu Patwari had called a meeting of all district presidents in Bhopal on Monday, in which the strategy for the agitation was discussed in detail. State In-charge Harish Chaudhary also joined the meeting through online medium. It was decided in the meeting that a major agitation will be held on May 7 on farmers’ issues. Congress leaders say that the government has failed to purchase farmers’ produce and is now creating a situation of confusion. The issue of non-purchase of wheat at MSP will also be raised. The allegation is that wheat was not purchased according to the fixed quota, forcing farmers to sell their produce at a loss to traders. Taking up these issues, Congress has prepared for a large-scale agitation, in which a large number of farmers will participate along with party workers. Protest demonstration by forming human chain Meanwhile, a demonstration was held against the BJP government by the city Congress and Madhya Pradesh Rajiv Vikas Kendra. In this demonstration organized regarding women’s reservation, a protest was registered by forming a human chain. Congress leaders alleged that despite the Women’s Reservation Bill being passed in 2023, the BJP government delayed its implementation and issued the notification on April 16, 2026, according to political convenience. Congress says that the government is delaying the implementation of women’s reservation under the pretext of the census and delimitation, and women are being misled. The party also clarified that the Nari Shakti Vandan Act was supported in 2023, but it has not been implemented since then.
