Chennai Super Kings (CSK) thrashed the Mumbai Indians (MI) by 103 runs in match 33 of IPL 2026 at the Wankhede Stadium on 23 April. Sanju Samson scored a sensational century while Akeal Hosein picked up four wickets as CSK registered their third win of the season. Meanwhile, it was a fifth loss for the Mumbai Indians this year, who have had a stuttering campaign. The MI vs CSK match, dubbed as IPL’s ‘El Clasico’, witnessed several sensational moments. Tilak nudged a delivery, the last of the 10th over from Overton, onto the leg side and wanted a double. But he was turned down by Suryakumar Yadav. Overton, after collecting the ball, appeared to say some words to Tilak. The Mumbai Indians star was irate and the two subsequently engaged in an argument. But all’s well that ends well. The two cricketers hugged it out after the match, burying the hatchet. This incident happened inside the powerplay where Hosein took two wickets. The left-arm spinner, put his right palm on his face while performing the ‘mask’ celebration and Samson tried to imitate the same, only to put his hand in front of the helmet he was wearing at that time. This happened in the 17th over when Kartik Sharma played a pull shot to a Jasprit Bumrah delivery. And Santner, fielding in the deep, dived in front and on time to take a splendid catch. However, the catch saw Santner suffer a shoulder injury and he could not take any further part in the match, with Shardul Thakur coming on as the concussion substitute. During the match, another fan was seen seated in the stands who was dressed exactly like Hardik Pandya. The fan also had a hairstyle similar to that of the Mumbai Indians captain.
