Sunday, 19 April witnessed two blockbuster matches, which saw the Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) defeat the Rajasthan Royals (RR) for their first win in IPL 2026. In the second game of the day, the Punjab Kings (PBKS) overcame the Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) in a high-scoring clash to maintain their unbeaten run. The two matches witnessed several unbelievable moments and records. From Dhruv Jurel’s MS Dhoni-like stumping to Jofra Archer taking a wicket with the very first ball, let’s take a look at them. KKR vs RR Top Moments and Records Dhruv Jurel pulls off MS Dhoni-like stumping to dismiss Green Safe to say, Jurel chanelled his inner Dhoni when he came up with a sensational stumping to dismiss Cameron Green in the KKR vs RR match. This incident happened in the fifth over of the second innings when Ravi Bishnoi bowled a wide ball. And Green, who came down the track, failed to make any connection. Jurel not only collected the ball but also threw it straight at the stumps and completed a sensational stumping. Nandre Burger drops Rinku Singh on 8 before KKR star’s 53* Nandre Burger dropped Rinku Singh when he was just on eight runs, before the KKR star went on to hit a match-winning 53. This incident happened in the 11th over when Rinku threw his bat at a Ravindra Jadeja ball. He got a top edge and Burger settled underneath the ball, only to drop it. It was the turning point of the match as Rinku went on to register the win for KKR. Jofra Archer takes first-ball wicket for third consecutive match Jofra Archer continued his streak of taking a wicket with the first ball of an innings. Having dismissed Phil Salt and Abhishek Sharma with the very first balls in RR’s matches against the Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) and the Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH), Archer maintained that run. This time, it was KKR’s Tim Seifert who faced Archer and the RR pacer broke through his defense and shattered the stumps. Kartik Tyagi’s three-wicket over Kartik Tyagi bowled a three-wicket over in the KKR vs RR match, helping his team keep the Royals to a low score. The tearaway pacer dismissed Ravindra Jadeja (9), Shimron Hetmyer (15) and Ravi Bishnoi (0) in the 19th over of the first innings. He registered figures of 3/22, his personal best in T20s. Varun Chakaravarthy completes 200 T20I wickets The mystery spinner, who endured terrible form going into IPL 2026 and in the first few games, showed signs of his old self against RR. Him falling to Burger in the second over was the 12th instance of the KKR skipper managing a duck in IPL, the most by an opener in the tournament. PBKS vs LSG Top Moments and Records 1. Shashank Singh’s brainfade moment Shashank Singh endured a terrible day on the field even as the Punjab Kings defeated LSG comfortably. The PBKS star dropped three catches, one of which was a brain-fade moment. This happened in the 19th over of the innings, bowled by Arshdeep Singh when Aiden Markram hit it in the air in the cover region. Shashank had gathered near the ball but did not attempt to even catch it, with the ball hitting the boundary rope. He might have thought that the ball was going for a six, but it was not to be. 2. Pant did not take DRS, lost a chance for a wicket In the second over, Punjab’s Cooper Connolly survived an LBW. Connolly wanted to flick Mohsin Khan’s full-length delivery, but missed, and the ball hit his pads. An appeal for LBW was made, but the field umpire declared it not out. Despite much thought, Pant did not take the review. Replays showed that the ball was hitting the leg stump; if he had taken the review, a wicket would have been obtained. Connolly took advantage of this and played an innings of 87 runs. 3. Rishabh Pant’s one-handed six Rishabh Pant and one-handed sixes are not a new thing. The LSG captain brought out the shot while chasing a mammoth 255-run target vs PBKS. In the seventh over of the chase, Pant smashed Marco Jansen for two consecutive sixes, one of which was a one-handed one. 4. Shreyas Iyer covers Shashank Singh’s face with a cap This happened after the match in which Shashank dropped not one, not two but three catches. After Punjab Kings’ victory, Shreyas jokingly covered Shashank’s face while sharing smiles with the PBKS star. 5. Before this, Rohit Sharma and Ryan Rickelton of the Mumbai Indians had made a 148-run opening partnership. Both had scored these runs against Kolkata. Priyansh and Connolly together hit 16 sixes in their partnership. This was only the third time in IPL history that PBKS had a 150-plus run partnership. Before this, KL Rahul and Mayank Agarwal had added 183 runs. And in 2011, Adam Gilchrist and Shaun Marsh had made a 206-run partnership.
