Ahmedabad Police has initiated a top-level inquiry into allegations of police harassment following a viral social media account by Pankaj Singh Parihar, an Indore-based professional. Talking to Bhaskar English, Pankaj explained the entire ordeal which reportedly occurred on 11 April at approximately 4 pm near the CTM checkpoint at the entrance of National Expressway 1 (NE-1). Police harrasment alleged Parihar, a study-abroad consultant, alleged that while returning to Indore in a blue Honda Elevate driven by his colleague, Raghav, their out-of-state vehicle was intercepted by seven officers. While three officers focused elsewhere, four targeted their car under the guise of Gujarat’s prohibition laws. The situation escalated into a 40-minute ordeal where two officers entered the vehicle, with one taking the driver’s seat. Major invasion of privacy? According to Parihar, the officers conducted intrusive searches of their mobile phones, reading personal chats and mocking voice messages between Raghav and his partner. Officers also scrutinised a diary containing student loan figures, labelling the transactions ‘fishy’ and accusing the duo of ‘Kabutarbazi’ (human trafficking/dunki-related activities). Ugly ordeal with businessman continued Parihar claims the officers utilised pressure tactics to ‘settle’ the matter. Parihar eventually gave them a packet of thepla he had purchased. Police action following social media uproar Parihar, who initially struggled to file an e-complaint due to technical errors, took to X, LinkedIn, and Reddit on 14 April, where other users echoed similar experiences at the CTM junction. This incidence is extremely unfortunate. In this issue, an inquiry has been assigned to the DCP Cyber Crime, Ahmedabad City. Strict action will be taken against those responsible for the harassment. @sandeep_PT— Ahmedabad Police અમદાવાદ પોલીસ (@AhmedabadPolice) April 16, 2026 Subsequently, on 16 April, the Ahmedabad Cybercrime Branch contacted Parihar.
