In Ratlam’s Namli police station, in a case of an accused committing suicide by hanging, TI Gayatri Soni has been line attached and Head Constable Narayan Jadaun, who was on night duty, has been suspended. The shocking thing about the case is that the accused had submitted an application at the police station before committing suicide and his arrest, in which he wrote, “I had seen my daughter talking to a boy on a video call, I counselled her. Due to this, my wife, mother-in-law and sister-in-law are conspiring together to file false cases against me.” The father had made this complaint in the morning, but the police only took the application and kept it. In the afternoon, the daughter filed a case accusing him of rape, and at night the police arrested him. Tied the drawstring of his lower to a tap, made a noose and hanged himself The 38-year-old father, arrested on charges of raping his 16-year-old daughter, hanged himself using the drawstring of his lower (pants) in the lockup (detention cell) of Namli police station between 3:30 to 4:00 AM on the morning of 16 April, which resulted in his death. In the lockup, a toilet was built in one corner, whose wall was only three feet high. The space above was open. Right next to the toilet was a water tap pipe. Using the pipe as support, he made a noose around his neck with the drawstring. CCTV was not covering the corner area When the Head Constable on duty at the jail did not see the accused on CCTV, he reached the jail and found the accused on his knees on the ground with a noose towards the toilet built in one corner of the lockup. He immediately informed the Station In-charge and other officers. By morning, police officers, Forensic Science Laboratory (FSL) officer Atul Mittal and a team of doctors arrived. Doctors declared the accused dead. A judicial team also reached the spot. The body was handed over to the family members after post-mortem. The CCTV was not covering the corner area of the toilet. Family members had expressed anger towards wife and daughter On Thursday afternoon, the deceased’s last rites were performed in his village. The deceased used to worship at the village temple as well as do farming. Family members of the accused also expressed anger at the police station against the deceased’s in-laws for harassing and filing a false report. Questions were also raised about the arrest without investigation. Family members demanded the arrest of the deceased’s wife and daughter, alleging a false report, after which station in-charge Gayatri Soni informed about taking both into custody. Due to being in police custody, the wife and daughter could not attend the last rites. Family members had also objected to both of them coming. Mother had gone to Gujarat, then father did wrong deed Police had registered a case against the father on charges of rape and Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act on the complaint of the minor daughter at 2:30 pm on 15 April. The mother had also reached the police station with the daughter. The accused father was arrested by police around 9:40 pm at night. The daughter had stated in the report that she has studied till ninth grade.
She said, ‘We are two sisters, of which she is the elder one. At home I live with my mother, father, sister and grandfather-grandmother. On March 11, 2026, mother had gone to Vadodara (Gujarat) with grandmother to get her treated. That day at home were me and father and grandfather-grandmother. That night grandfather-grandmother slept outside. Me and father slept inside the house. I was sleeping on the cot. Father was sleeping below.’ ‘Between 11:00 PM and 11:30 PM, father turned off the light. He came and lay down next to me. My sleep was disturbed. Father started doing wrong things with me. I refused. When I screamed, father forcibly did wrong things twice against my will. He said that if you tell anyone, I will kill you. Out of fear of parents’ defamation and dishonour in society, I did not tell anyone about the incident. Later, gathering courage, I told the entire incident to mother, grandmother and maternal uncle.’ Cousin brother said, sister-in-law’s brother had demanded 5 lakh rupees The deceased’s cousin brother said that for a month, brother’s in-laws were demanding money. Even a day before the incident, sister-in-law’s brother had demanded 5 lakh rupees at the police station to settle the matter. When nothing had happened, then what was the money being demanded for. Brother’s condition was also not such that he could give the money. The daughter had filed a false report against her father at the insistence of her mother and maternal uncle. Allegation of performing tantric rituals According to the cousin, the brother had once told that his wife and brother-in-law had performed black magic on him. After sleeping at night, a lemon was circled over him. When he woke up in the morning, he found worship materials around him. The deceased’s father is paralyzed at home, while his mother is also 65 years old. Had attempted suicide two-three times before as well In the preliminary police investigation, it has come to light that the accused father had also attempted suicide two to three times in a month. Porn videos found in mobile, searched on Google how to avoid rape After the accused father’s death, police also searched his mobile’s Google history. Several porn videos were found on the mobile. Apart from the history of these videos on Google, a search history was also found on how to escape from false rape cases with minors. The then station in-charge Gayatri Soni had said that after the father’s letter, the wife and daughter were questioned, but both denied the allegations. Since these were allegations by a minor, an FIR had to be filed immediately. After that, an investigation is conducted. The father was also questioned, but he didn’t say anything. After the daughter’s complaint, the medical examination was conducted by the police. Recorded statements were also taken. Separate investigation of the entire sequence of events SP Amit Kumar said that along with judicial, a police investigation will also be conducted.
