A man was allegedly murdered, his body cut into nine pieces, and the remains dumped in a septic tank at his house in Mandla district. Police recovered the body parts wrapped in cloth from the tank, sending shockwaves through the area. Family members have expressed suspicion against the victim’s elder brother. Foul smell leads to discovery The crime came to light after a strong foul smell began emanating from the septic tank. The victim’s father, Munnalal Sahu, informed the police. When the police opened the tank, they found several pieces of a dismembered body wrapped in cloth. The gruesome discovery left onlookers stunned. The body was later identified as Ashish Sahu based on clothing and other identifiers. Victim missing since April 11 Ashish had been missing since April 11. Initially, the family searched for him on their own but found no clues. A missing person complaint was filed at Anjaniya police outpost on April 15. Despite the complaint, no information about his whereabouts had surfaced until the body was discovered. Murder suspected elsewhere, body dumped later Additional Superintendent of Police Shivkumar Verma reached the spot after the incident was reported. A forensic team collected evidence from the scene. Police have taken him into custody and are questioning him. Reports suggest that there had been prior disputes between the two brothers. Troubled family background under probe Police revealed that in 2019, following a family dispute, the brothers’ mother had left home and has been missing since then. Investigators are examining this background as part of the case. Financial angle also being examined Locals said that Ashish had recently purchased a tractor and had started working with it, while Ghanshyam is employed at a factory. Police are also probing financial and interpersonal aspects within the family. The exact motive, timing, and manner of the murder are still under investigation.
