A 47-year-old man was found dead under suspicious circumstances at his residence in the Tikonia Hathikhana area under Murar police station limits in Gwalior. The body, which was several days old, had begun decomposing, raising concerns of possible foul play. On Wednesday evening, locals reported a strong foul smell emanating from the house. Family members were informed and initially assumed it to be a natural death, even beginning preparations for the last rites. However, the situation changed when the deceased’s wife and children arrived and alerted the police. Upon reaching the spot, police found the decomposed body of the man inside the house. Victim identified, death estimated 2–3 days earlier The deceased was identified as Bhupendra Mandelia (47). Preliminary investigation suggests that he had died around two to three days prior to the discovery. Due to the advanced state of decomposition, no visible external injuries or wounds could be identified on the body. Forensic examination and Post-mortem Considering the seriousness of the case, a forensic team was called to examine the scene. Forensic expert Kok Singh Parihar inspected the site. The body has been sent for post-mortem, and officials said the exact cause of death will be determined only after the report is received. Wife alleges murder The deceased’s wife, Asha Mandelia, who has been living separately from him for the past 12 years, has raised suspicion of murder. Bhupendra was working in a private job in Bhopal and had reportedly arrived in Gwalior on April 12. His children reside in Samadhiya Colony. Property dispute angle under investigation Police investigation has revealed that the deceased had an ongoing dispute with his brothers over ancestral property. This angle is also being examined. Some indications at the scene suggest that funeral preparations may have been rushed, though police have not officially confirmed this. Investigation ongoing Murar police station in-charge Maina Patel stated that the case is currently being treated as suspicious, and the cause of death will be confirmed after the post-mortem report.
