Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) star Tim David has been fined after he refused to return the ball to the umpire during the IPL 2026 match against the Mumbai Indians (MI) on Sunday, 12 April. MI captain Hardik Pandya was also fined for maintaining a slow over-rate against RCB. RCB dished out an emphatic performance to defeat the Mumbai Indians at the Wankhede Stadium. This was a third victory for the defending champions this season. On the other hand, MI suffered a hat-trick of losses since opening their campaign with a win over the Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR). Tim David fined 25% of his match fee after refusing to return ball twice David was fined for an offence that isn’t seen pretty often on a cricket field. This incident happened in the 18th over when he took the ball and appeared to tease the umpire by not returning it. The RCB star repeated the same incident in the 20th over. According to a statement by the IPL, David breached Article 2.4 of the IPL’s Code of Conduct, which is for ‘disobeying an umpire’s instruction during a match.’ Not just a fine, but David was also handed one demerit point. The Mumbai Indians captain was handed a fine of Rs 12 lakhs as this was his first offence this season. The MI captain took one wicket, that of Virat Kohli, while giving away 39 runs with the ball and later on, hit 40 runs off 22 deliveries before being dismissed by Jacob Duffy. Not just Pandya but several other captains have been fined for slow over-rate this season, the likes of which include Shreyas Iyer and Ruturaj Gaikwad. Venues for GT vs CSK fixtures swapped The venues for GT vs CSK fixtures in IPL 2026 have been swapped on 26 April and 21 May have been swapped. The first meeting between these two teams, originally scheduled to take place at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad, will now be played at the MA Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai at 3:30 PM. Additionally, the reverse fixture, which was supposed to be hosted by Chennai on 21 May, will now be played in Ahmedabad at 7:30 PM IST. This change has been made keeping in mind the municipal corporation elections in Ahmedabad and other areas of Gujarat, which is scheduled for 26 April.
