The State Cyber Cell in Madhya Pradesh has busted a fake call centre operating from Ganjbasoda in Vidisha district. The accused allegedly carried out frauds in a manner inspired by the film ‘Bunty Aur Babli’ and were running a fake company named ‘Quikr.Job’. The accused used to cheat unemployed youths by promising jobs in foreign IT companies. To gain trust, they provided fake job offer letters and joining letters to candidates. They also collected thousands of rupees per person in the name of processing fees. Police are currently examining the banking details of the accused. From the premises, police recovered 20 mobile phones, 12 SIM cards, three passbooks, three cheque books, data registers and pen drives. Racket operated for five years According to police, the main accused, 45-year-old Yogendra Singh, originally from Noida in Uttar Pradesh, had been operating the fake call centre from Ganjbasoda for the past five years. The centre was used for telecalling-based fraud targeting job seekers. More than a dozen people worked there, though many were reportedly unaware of the fraud. Woman accomplice also arrested Police have arrested Yogendra Singh and a female accomplice. Both were involved in cheating people across the country through telecalling and fake job offers. During interrogation, the accused reportedly said they believed operating from a small town like Ganjbasoda would help them avoid detection. The racket continued for over five years without the local police noticing it.
