A transformer caught fire in MP Nagar Zone-2 of Bhopal on Sunday, which later exploded and engulfed a parked Fortuner car. The vehicle quickly turned into a fireball as flames spread rapidly. Local residents tried to control the fire, but the intensity kept increasing. Soon after, locals informed the fire control room. Before fire tenders arrived, the blaze also reached a nearby building, filling it with thick smoke. Two fire tenders brought the fire under control within about 15 minutes. The incident created panic in the area, which has several hotels and gyms nearby. People rushed out in fear as flames spread. However, no casualties were reported in the incident. Police said an investigation will be conducted once a formal complaint is received. Car had come to mechanic’s shop for repair Officials said the Fortuner had come to a mechanic’s workshop near the transformer for repair work. Since it was Sunday, the area had less crowd, which helped avoid a major tragedy. Most offices in the building were closed due to the weekly holiday. CCTV footage will also be examined to determine the exact cause of the fire.
