Ministry of Consumer Affairs said on Monday, 6 April, 2026, that, the government is continuously monitoring prices of food items especially those of essential commodities. The government garners retail prices of 40 different food items. Government agenices visit centre where stocks are kept to check prices. A government official said that the Centre has adequate buffer stock of both wheat and rice. The government official said that citizens can register grievances on national consumer helpline,1915 regarding hoarding of LPG cooking cyliners or high prices. There has been no unusual volatility in the prices of food commodities.
