A newly married woman who approached the women’s police station in Sehore with complaints of dowry harassment and alleged black magic was reportedly reprimanded and turned away by police staff instead of being consoled. A video of the entire incident has surfaced. There’s no one to type, leave now Sangeeta Lodhi, a resident of Barkheda Hasan village, reached the women’s police station on Thursday night with her complaint. She alleged that instead of listening to her, the staff used abusive language. Police personnel reportedly told her that there was no one available to type her complaint and insulted her. The woman, who had come seeking justice, was allegedly misbehaved with and asked to leave the station. Allegations of tantric practices and unnatural relations against husband In her written complaint, Sangeeta made several allegations against her in-laws. According to her, her husband Golu Lodhi used black magic on her and forced her into unnatural relations. She said that just three days after the marriage, her sister-in-law criticised a gold ring as too thin and pressured her to bring a heavier one from her parental home. Her in-laws allegedly demanded ₹2 lakh in cash and a plot of land, and subjected her to physical assault and mental harassment. Wedding took place in December 2024 Sangeeta was married on 2 December 2024 to Golu Lodhi, a resident of Karela in Vidisha district. Her father had given nearly ₹2.75 lakh in cash, along with gold and silver jewellery and furniture, according to his capacity. Despite this, the in-laws allegedly remained dissatisfied and began assaulting her under the pretext of post-wedding customs. Questions raised after video surfaced A video of the incident inside the police station has raised serious questions about police functioning. While the government makes strong claims about women’s safety and grievance redressal, this incident at the Sehore women’s police station reflects the ground reality of the system.
