Chief Minister Dr Mohan Yadav on Sunday evening took major administrative action in the hawala case, directing the removal of Guna SP Ankit Soni and Sidhi Collector Swarochit Somvanshi. The CM made it clear that action was taken against officials after receiving complaints at the ground level. He said that instead of keeping such officers in field postings, it is better to seat them in Vallabh Bhawan. In Guna, in the hawala case linked to cash recovery, SP Ankit Soni was removed with immediate effect after his role was found unsatisfactory. In the case involving recovery of ₹1 crore cash and an alleged ₹20 lakh transaction, his role did not meet expectations. After the matter came to light, the government adopted a strict stance. The CM reached Sidhi directly from Mirzapur, where during interactions with local residents and public representatives, he received multiple complaints. Continuous complaints regarding administrative functioning led to this action. What is the Guna hawala case Guna police had intercepted a Gujarat-based cumin trader’s car and recovered around ₹1 crore in cash, but it is alleged that the vehicle was let off after taking ₹20 lakh. The case took a turn when, following a phone call from a Gujarat IPS officer, Dharanawada police returned the ₹20 lakh that had been taken. As soon as the matter surfaced, Gwalior DIG Amit Sanghi reached Guna late at night and initiated an investigation. Subsequently, four policemen, including the station in-charge, were suspended. Those suspended include ASI Sajid Hussain, head constable Devendra Singh Sikarwar and constable Sundar Raman. Their roles were found suspicious in the initial probe. The action later reached the SP level, leading to his removal. Action in Sidhi, bank GM also suspended At the same time, the Chief Minister showed strictness in Sidhi district as well. During the surprise visit, the functioning of the district administration was reviewed based on complaints from the public and representatives. Following this, directions were issued to remove Collector Swarochit Somvanshi with immediate effect. Additionally, orders were issued to suspend Sidhi District Cooperative Bank General Manager PS Dhanwal with immediate effect.
