Sam Curran ruled out in big blow to RR:CSK’s Nathan Ellis to miss tournament due to hamstring injury

The IPL 2026 is not very far away but the injury list keeps on growing. Sam Curran, Rajasthan Royals’ newest recruit, has been ruled out of the tournament due to injury. Not just this, but Chennai Super Kings’ IPL 2026 plans have also been hit with Nathan Ellis set to miss the tournament owing to a hamstring issue. Chennai Super Kings and Rajasthan Royals will start their respective IPL 2026 campaigns against each other in Guwahati on 30 March. Sam Curran out of IPL 2026 due to groin injury As per ESPN, Curran is dealing with a suspected groin injury which will thus keep him out of the upcoming edition of the tournament. This is a big blow for the Rajasthan Royals, who had acquired the England all-rounder via trade. In a sensational trade move before the auction, Curran and Ravindra Jadeja had joined the Rajasthan Royals from the Chennai Super Kings, with Sanju Samson going the other way. Curran was part of England’s T20 World Cup 2026 campaign, where the Harry Brook-led team bowed out after a seven-run loss to India in a high-scoring semifinal. Before this, Curran has played for the Punjab Kings and the Chennai Super Kings in the IPL. The all-rounder has played 64 matches where he scored 997 runs and taken 59 wickets. An official of the franchise stated that the 31-year-old Ellis is out of the IPL, although no decision has been made yet regarding his replacement. CSK bought Ellis for ₹2 crore at the 2025 mega auction. Before this, he had played for Punjab Kings for four seasons. He has taken 19 wickets in 17 IPL matches so far. Nathan Ellis was supposed to lead the team’s pace attack. Especially when Sri Lankan bowler Matheesha Pathirana is not part of the team this season. In such a situation, Ellis’s absence is considered a big loss for CSK.
