According to Ministry of Civil Aviation’s latest press release, airlines in India must now allow passengers to choose at least 60% of the seats on a flight for free. This ensures everyone has a fair chance to get a seat they like. This could also make window seat selection free! The Civil Aviation Ministry has also announced following changes to make flying more convenient for passengers: All passengers under same PNR to seat together: If you are traveling with family or friends on the same booking, airlines should try to seat you together, ideally in seats next to each other. Bringing Your Gear: Airlines will make it easier to bring sports equipment and musical instruments on flights. They’ll have clear rules about how to do this safely and without any hassle. The rules for bringing pets on board will also be made clear. Your Rights as a Passenger: Airlines must follow the rules when flights are delayed, canceled, or if you’re denied boarding. You have rights, and airlines need to respect them. Making Rights Clear: Airlines need to display passenger rights clearly on their websites, apps, booking platforms, and at airport counters. Speaking Your Language: Information about your rights will be available in regional languages, so everyone can understand them. Focus on passengers: The Ministry of Civil Aviation is putting passengers first. They are working hard to make flying a smoother, more enjoyable experience for everyone. Some of the new initiatives include: UDAN Yatri Cafes: These cafes offer affordable food options at airports, so travelers don’t have to break the bank for a meal. Flybrary: Passengers can now access free books at airports, making layovers a little more entertaining. Free Wi-Fi: Staying connected is easier than ever with free Wi-Fi available at airports. India is now the world’s third-largest market for air travel within the country. More people are flying than ever before, thanks to initiatives like the UDAN scheme, which makes air travel more affordable and available to a wider range of people. Every day, Indian airports are buzzing, handling over 5,00,000 passengers! This shows just how quickly the aviation sector is growing. The Ministry of Civil Aviation is dedicated to improving the flying experience for all passengers. They want to make sure things are fair, transparent, and safe for everyone in the aviation industry.
