A devastating incident occurred in a residential colony near Indore’s Bengali Square at around 4:00 am on Wednesday. A short circuit during the charging of an electric car led to a major fire, in which six people were burnt alive. According to eyewitnesses and initial investigations, an electric car belonging to the Pugalia family was being charged outside their house late at night. At around 4:00 am, a short circuit occurred at the charging point, causing the car to catch fire. The flames quickly spread from the vehicle to the house, intensifying the situation within minutes. Gas cylinder explosions worsen fire As the fire reached the house, it spread to around 15 gas cylinders stored inside. Soon after, a series of explosions occurred. At least four cylinders exploded one after another, creating a massive impact. The blasts were so powerful that a portion of the house collapsed, leaving those inside with no chance to escape. Family gathering turns tragic A family function was being held at the Pugalia residence, due to which several relatives were staying overnight. The tragedy claimed the lives of six people so far. 3 others sustained serious injuries and have been admitted to hospital for treatment. Rescue and ongoing response Emergency services responded to the incident, and rescue operations were carried out amid challenging conditions.
