Kerala governor felicitates Sanju Samson, gifts him Sachin’s autobiography:Tilak Varma honoured by Telangana CM after T20 WC heroics

Sanju Samson and Tilak Varma were felicitated in their respective states, Kerala and Telangana, after their heroics in the T20 World Cup 2026. Both Samson and Tilak played pivotal roles in India’s T20 World Cup trophy win, which came after defeating New Zealand by 96 runs in the final at Ahmedabad. With the triumph, India became the first team to win three T20 World Cup titles. Also, it was the first instance of a team winning back-to-back T20 World Cups and also the first team to win the honour at home. Samson scored 321 runs in five matches and was named Player of the Tournament at the T20 World Cup. Samson was gifted a Malayali copy of Sachin Tendulkar’s autobiography ‘Playing It My Way’. Additionally, he was also honoured with a shawl, a Kasavu Mundu (a traditional Kerala attire) and a Lord Padmanabhaswamy idol. Before the auction last year, Samson was traded to CSK by the Rajasthan Royals, with Ravindra Jadeja and Sam Curran going the other way in a sensational move. The right-handed wicketkeeper-batter, while speaking in Malayali, said that he wants to learn from Dhoni. “I have spoken to Mahi bhai over the phone and interacted with him, but playing with him as part of a team will be great. Not just Tilak but the Telangana CM also felicitated U-19 World Cup winner Aaron George as well, presenting him with a bouquet. Former Indian captain Mohammad Azharuddin was also present.
