Bangladesh defeated Pakistan by 11 runs in the 3rd ODI of the three-match series at the Shere Bangla National Stadium in Dhaka on Sunday, 15 March. With this victory, Bangladesh win the ODI series 2-1. Chasing 291 to win, Pakistan were bowled out for 279 in 50 overs. Pakistan captain Shaheen Afridi tried hard to take his team past the finish line with 37, but eventually, he was dismissed off the last ball. Chasing 291 in a decider is indeed a tough ask and Pakistan got off to a forgettable start, being reduced to 17/3 at one stage. Abdul Samad and Ghazi Ghori added 50 runs for the fourth wicket before being separated. Salman (106) was the fulcrum of Pakistan’s batting as he stitched a 79-run stand with Saad Masood, a 48-run partnership with Faheem Ashraf and added 52 with captain Shaheen. His dismissal in the 48th over spelt the end of Pakistan’s hopes. Shaheen kept Pakistan alive till the last over before being dismissed. For Bangladesh, Taskin Ahmed was the best bowler as he picked up four wickets while giving away 49 runs in his 10 overs. Mustafizur Rahman scalped three (3/54) while Nahid Rana scalped two (2/62) and Rishad Hossain (1/56).
