About 50 kilometres from Jabalpur, in a tribal-dominated area, a young man murdered his mother. The incident occurred on Thursday in Jamuniya Badariya village, under the Kundam police station. The accused had asked his mother for food. When his mother refused, he first attacked her with a basin and then struck her neck and head with a sickle. The woman died on the spot. After the incident, the accused threatened his father, brother, and sister and fled towards the forest. Upon receiving information, the police cordoned off the area and arrested the accused son on Thursday evening. Police sent the body to Kundam Health Centre for post-mortem, and after arresting the accused and presenting him in court, he was sent to jail. First asked for food, then a dispute ensued Jamuna Maravi, a resident of village Jamunia Badariya, was working at home on Thursday morning. During this time, her elder son Deepak Maravi arrived home and demanded food. The mother said that the food was not ready yet and would take some time. At this, Deepak got angry and started arguing with his mother. The younger brother and sister present in the house intervened, which calmed the dispute for a while. About half an hour later, Deepak again approached his mother and started arguing. Suddenly, he picked up a metal basin kept in the house and attacked his mother. The woman fell to the ground. The accused also pushed his father Shyam Singh Maravi, who had come to save her. After that, he picked up a sickle kept on the wall and struck his mother on her neck and head, causing her death on the spot. Incident occurred in front of father, siblings At the time of the incident, the father, younger brother, and sister were present in the house. Seeing the weapon in the accused’s hand, no one could stop him. After the incident, he threatened the family and fled towards the forest. Police investigation revealed that the family earns a living by working as laborers in the village. The parents live with their younger siblings in the house. The accused and his siblings are also said to be mentally unwell.
