To protect fans from falling prey to black marketers, Ahmedabad Police executed strategic operations to intercept local perpetrators aggressively exploiting the championship’s massive brand pull. Illegal operations Ahmedabad Police leveraged actionable intelligence to disrupt three distinct black-market nodes, arresting individuals demanding up to a 600% markup on standard inventory Zone-2 Local Crime Branch (LCB), acting on targeted surveillance intel, apprehended 19-year-old Prithvi Patni, a local vegetable vendor, near the Sabarmati Acher crossroads. Patni acquired Rs 2,000 tickets via official digital platforms, attempting to liquidate them at highly inflated price points of Rs 10,000 to Rs 12,000. Authorities seized 8 tickets and charged him under the Gujarat Police Act. Ploy setup outside stadium Outside Motera Stadium, Sabarmati Police arrested Vansh Shah, recovering two tickets. Shah was caught actively pricing Rs 2,000 inventory at Rs 11,000, capitalising on last-minute consumer urgency. The Ahmedabad Crime Branch too executed a tactical sting near the Usmanpura bus stand. Suspects Vipin Bhati and Ritik Yadav were arrested with 8 advance-booked tickets. They were artificially restricting supply and demanding Rs 10,000 per ticket—three times their original cost. Championship stakes India and New Zealand will become the first teams to feature in ICC finals across all formats, having earlier met in two ICC Champions Trophy finals (2000 and 2025) and the inaugural World Test Championship final in 2021.
