England, South Africa, and West Indies teams will now depart from India by chartered flights. The International Cricket Council (ICC) has arranged special flights for these teams. The teams have been stranded in India after air services were affected due to the Iran-Israel war, and many flights from Dubai have been cancelled. Teams to Depart on Saturday and Sunday According to a report from ESPNCricinfo, the England team, which lost the semifinal to India on Thursday, 5 March, will fly directly from Mumbai to London on Saturday evening. Meanwhile, the West Indies and South Africa teams will depart from Kolkata on a separate chartered flight. This flight will first go to Johannesburg (South Africa) and then fly to Antigua (West Indies). The South African team is expected to depart on Sunday. Daren Sammy ‘counting days’ for going home The West Indies team was eliminated after losing to India in the last Super 8 match on 1 March, and since then, the players have been staying in Kolkata. West Indies head coach Daren Sammy posted ‘Day 6’ on his social media handle on Saturday. His post was a reference to the days the team was forced to spend in Kolkata after the match. The Zimbabwe team also faced significant delays in leaving India, although some of their members departed on March 4. Some South African players will go directly to New Zealand The South African team had lost to New Zealand in the first semi-final on March 4. Along with the team management, players like Keshav Maharaj, Jason Smith, and George Linde will depart directly from Kolkata for New Zealand on Sunday. A limited-overs series is scheduled to begin there from 15 March. The rest of the team will return to Johannesburg. Final match to be held tomorrow in Ahmedabad The final match between India and New Zealand will be played on 8 March at Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad.
