Former cricketer and politician Navjot Singh Sidhu has slammed Pakistani pacer Mohammad Amir after he predicted that India will not qualify for the T20 World Cup final. India defeated England by 7 runs and will face New Zealand in the final on 8th. Amir had predicted previously that India would not reach the semifinals; that prediction came out wrong, and Amir’s another prediction was proved wrong when India dumped out England. Sindhu slammed Amir calling him a ‘dhongi baba’ for his ‘fake’ predictions. “People around us have a big habit of making fake predictions. If it comes true, good; if not, they just brush it off. If it works, they call it an arrow; if not, they say it was just a guess,” Sidhu said in an Instagram post. “And still they continue to act like some kind of wise baba. Honestly, I think such people are just dhongi babas (fake babas). First, they said India would not even qualify, would not reach the semifinals,” Sidhu said. Mohammad Amir remains defiant Even though his prediction turned to be all wrong, Amir said he made a good prediction, but England’s fielding cost them dearly. “I talk about cricket. India played very well and complete cricket in this match after the entire tournament. We have to give credit where it is due. I did make a good prediction, but dropping a catch isn’t in my hands,” Amir said. Sidhu shared another video with the tag “Catches Win Matches” regarding the cricket match between India and England. Through the video, Sidhu stated that India’s victory over England was due to Axar Patel’s two catches being the turning points. Through the video, Sidhu also refreshed his cricket memories. Releasing a clip of Kapil Dev, Sidhu said that just as Axar caught the ball running backwards, Kapil Dev had caught a similar catch. Even then, India had won the match. Sidhu praises Axar Patel Sidhu said that it is not necessary that only batsmen or bowlers win matches in cricket. The history of cricket bears witness that many times teams have won due to fielding. The same was seen in the T20 semi-final between India and England. If Axar Patel had not taken the boundary catch, the game might have gone in England’s favour. Sidhu said that he considers Axar Patel’s two catches important in this match’s victory. Thanks to these catches, the course of the match changed, and victory was achieved. Axar Patel’s bowling and fielding role in this match was worth its weight in gold. It was Axar Patel who caught Marsh’s catch. No one has forgotten his one-handed catch in the last World Cup. Kapil changed the course of the match with one catch Sidhu said that in the World Cup, the very first World Cup, Kapil Dev Sahab had turned the match around by running backwards and dismissing Viv Richards. Suryakumar Yadav did the same while catching Miller’s catch, and today, these two catches, the first one of Brook, that batsman, if he had played for 5 more overs, would have completely changed the course of the match. The second catch was an amazing miracle. My respects, Bapu, because even while taking an off-balance catch in the air, there was presence of mind. The mind was ticking and he handed the ball to the fielder in front. This completely turned the game around. Bapu, you are 24-carat gold. Guru, your character is revealed in adversity. Guru, you are amazing. Gold shines only after being refined by fire.
