The traditional exuberance of Holi was on full display across Madhya Pradesh on Wednesday, March 4, as colours, gulal and folk traditions marked the festival in full splendour. Chief Minister Mohan Yadav celebrated Holi with flowers and gulal, greeting people amid festive cheer. Health Minister Rajendra Shukla and Union Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan added to the celebratory mood by singing traditional phag songs. Chouhan remarked that the festival should symbolise “a shower of colours, not bombs and gunpowder,” underlining the message of peace and harmony. Ujjain and Ratlam witness musical celebrations In Ujjain, MP Anil Firojiya was seen enthusiastically dancing to the popular song ‘Bheege Chunar Wali’. Sadhus and saints in the city celebrated Holi with flowers and gulal, creating a vibrant spiritual atmosphere. Foreign guests from Italy also joined the festivities, immersing themselves in the colours of the season. Meanwhile, in Ratlam, Mayor Prahlad Patel grabbed attention by dancing energetically to the song ‘Laila O Laila’, drawing cheers from the crowd. Grand processions and cultural events in Bhopal and Jabalpur In Bhopal, the Shri Hindu Utsav Samiti will take out its historic procession from Dayanand Chowk to Janakpuri, continuing a long-standing festive tradition. In Jabalpur, the ISKCON temple at Lamheta Ghat will host a Braj-style Holi celebration from 5 pm on March 4, recreating the spirit of Mathura and Vrindavan with devotional fervour. Indore, Gwalior to host special events Luxury hotels in Indore are set to organise grand Holi events, attracting revellers for curated festive experiences. In Gwalior, the traditional Moorkh Sammelan (Fools’ Conference) will be held on the evening of Holi Padwa at Maharaja Bada, in front of Victoria Market. The event, known for its humour and satire, offers a light-hearted way to celebrate the festival. Holi Milan at Collector’s bungalow in Dindori In Dindori, a Holi Milan ceremony was organised at the official residence of Collector Anju Pawan Bhadoria. Administrative officials, public representatives and local citizens attended the event, which was marked by enthusiasm and warmth. Amid clouds of colour and the echo of traditional Holi songs, the venue resonated with the spirit of Phagun. A highlight of the celebration was a Congress MLA picking up the dholak and singing phag songs, adding a personal and cultural touch to the gathering. Attendees joined in with claps and chorus, making the event a symbol of brotherhood and communal harmony.
