A 33-year-old woman allegedly died by suicide after jumping from the second floor of her duplex house in Bhopal’s Kajlikheda police station area. The incident occurred in Dev Green City Colony, where her blood-soaked body was found lying on a rocky patch outside the house on Monday morning. Police rushed to the spot after receiving information from local residents. Late-night dispute over mobile phone According to police, the deceased, identified as Sonam Prajapati, had a late-night argument with her husband, Jitendra Prajapati, over a mobile phone. The husband told police that his wife had asked for the phone, but he refused and went to sleep. The incident came to light the next morning when neighbours spotted her body outside the house. According to Station House Officer Pallavi Pandey, couple often argued, allegedly due to the husband’s suspicion about his wife’s character. About a month ago, he had reportedly broken her mobile phone during a similar dispute. Police said the husband objected to her speaking to anyone on the phone. On Sunday night as well, an argument reportedly broke out over the phone issue. Family members said they were unaware when the woman went to the terrace and jumped. Murder angle also under probe Assistant Sub-Inspector Santosh Kumar said the body was handed over to the family after post-mortem examination. Blood stains were found on the rocky ground where the body was discovered. Police are investigating both suicide and possible homicide angles. The couple’s children have also been questioned, though no direct allegations have been made against the father so far. Mother of three The woman is survived by a 14-year-old daughter and two sons. The family originally hails from Jabalpur and has been living in Bhopal for nearly a decade. The husband works as a carpenter. Further investigation is underway.
