A youth allegedly slapped a police constable and grabbed his collar in Umaria district on Saturday night, triggering a brief confrontation. The constable also hit the youth before bystanders intervened and separated them. Police have registered a case against the accused under relevant sections of assault. A video of the incident surfaced on Sunday afternoon. Constable intervened to stop fight According to police, the incident took place at Ranvijay Chowk, where a youth identified as Vimal Ladia was arguing with a mentally disturbed person. Constable Mukesh Singh, who was returning home after completing his duty, noticed the altercation and intervened to stop the fight. This angered the youth, who began abusing the constable. In the footage, the youth is seen slapping the constable and grabbing his collar. In response, the constable slapped him twice. Despite this, the accused continued holding the officer’s collar. During the scuffle, the youth slapped the constable again. Several bystanders then stepped in to defuse the situation. During the intervention, one of the individuals also slapped the accused youth while trying to restrain him. Police register case, investigation underway After receiving information about the incident, Kotwali police reached the spot and brought the situation under control. SDOP P.L. Paraste said that constable Mukesh Singh was assaulted while performing his duty. A case has been registered against the accused youth, and further investigation is underway.
