Team India head coach Gautam Gambhir paid a visit to the famous Kalighat temple in Kolkata before the India vs West Indies T20 World Cup 2026 match on 1 March. Both India and West Indies have had just one loss each in the tournament and interestingly enough, they have both been beaten by South Africa in the Super 8 stage after passing through the group stage unscathed. Gautam Gambhir visits Kalighat temple A day before the high-octane clash, Gambhir and Team India batting coach Sitanshu Kotak arrived at the temple to offer their prayers. In a video, Gambhir and Kotak were seen praying at the temple. This is not the first time that Gambhir has paid a visit to this temple, with the earlier instance being in 2024 when he was the mentor of the Kolkata Knight Riders in the IPL. India’s do-or-die showdown against West Indies India set for do-or-die encounter with West Indies at the Eden Gardens on Sunday, 1 March. The winner of this match will qualify for the semifinals. West Indies, interestingly, have had the upper hand over India when it comes to T20 World Cups with three victories as compared to one loss. India on the other hand, have won all four T20Is against West Indies at the Eden Gardens. MS Dhoni offers prayers at Maa Dewri temple In another viral video, former Indian captain and CSK great MS Dhoni was seen visiting the popular Dewri temple in Ranchi. In a viral video, Dhoni was seen entering the temple amid a sea of devotees who cheered for him. Dhoni will be turning up for the Chennai Super Kings in IPL 2026. However, a report had emerged a while ago that stated that Dhoni might not play all games for CSK. With CSK having other wicketkeeping options in Sanju Samson, Urvil Patel and even their latest Rs 14.2 crore buy Kartik Sharma, Dhoni’s appearance for the five-time champions might be limited in the upcoming season. IPL 2026 set for delayed start The IPL 2026 season, which was originally set to begin on 26 March, will start two days later. As per a report, the tournament will now begin on 28 March due to five states being poll-bound– West Bengal, Assam, Tamil Nadu and Kerala.
