India cricketer Rinku Singh suffered a personal loss after his father, Khanchand Singh, passed away on Friday following a long battle with liver cancer. His father had been fighting the disease for some time, and his condition worsened in recent days, leading to his hospitalisation in Greater Noida. Khanchand Singh was admitted to Yatharth Hospital in Sector Omega One, Greater Noida, after his health suddenly deteriorated. He was diagnosed with stage-four liver cancer and was being treated in the Intensive Care Unit (ICU). Despite the doctors’ efforts, he could not recover. The tragic news comes at a time when Rinku Singh is part of India’s squad during the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2026. The cricketer had briefly left the team’s training camp to be with his father during his critical condition before rejoining the squad. Rinku left team camp to be with his father As soon as Rinku Singh received news about his father’s serious condition, he rushed to the hospital on Tuesday morning, around 10 am. At that time, he was in Chennai with Team India during the T20 World Cup preparations and had to leave the practice session immediately to be with his family. After spending time with his father and family, Rinku returned to Chennai on February 25 and rejoined the Indian team. However, he was not included in the playing XI for India’s Super 8 match against Zimbabwe on February 26. His father, Khanchand Singh, worked as a gas cylinder delivery man to support the family. Despite financial hardships, the family always supported Rinku’s cricket dreams. He and his brothers would even collect money together to buy a cricket ball and play matches in their neighbourhood.
