In Gwalior, a Class 12 student allegedly died by suicide on Thursday around 8 am after jumping from the second floor of his house. He was reportedly in depression after his Mathematics and Chemistry papers did not go well. The incident took place in Sain Nagar Phase-2, Harishankarpuram, under Jhansi Road police station limits. The deceased has been identified as Utkarsh alias Krishna Gupta (20), son of Rajiv Gupta. The family has taken the body to Barua Sagar for the last rites. No suicide note was found at the spot. According to family members, Utkarsh had dinner with his parents on Wednesday night and then went to sleep in his room. On Thursday morning, when he did not come out, his father Rajiv Gupta went to check on him. When he was not found in the room, the father went to the terrace. While looking down from the terrace, he saw Utkarsh lying dead below the house. The father informed neighbours and the police. Police reached the spot soon after getting information, took the body into custody and sent it for postmortem. After the postmortem, the body was handed over to the family. Local residents said Utkarsh was disturbed last year after scoring low marks in Mathematics and Chemistry in Class 12. This year he had reappeared for the exams in these subjects. He was worried that his papers had not gone well again and was under tension regarding the result. He feared failing once more. According to locals, he was in depression due to the fear of failing after suspecting that his papers had again not gone well. Utkarsh has an elder sister who works in Noida Utkarsh was originally from Barua Sagar. His father Rajiv Gupta has been living in Gwalior for the past 20 years in a rented house owned by Pramod Chauhan and works as a commission agent in Dal Bazaar. Utkarsh has an elder sister who works in Noida. He was living in Gwalior with his parents for his studies. CSP Robin Jain said that a student died by suicide in Harishankarpuram Colony. During the investigation, it came to light that he had scored low marks in some papers. The matter is under investigation, and further action will be taken based on the findings.
