A serious incident highlighting gaps in health services occurred Wednesday morning in the Jhirnya block of Khargone district. A pregnant woman gave birth outside the Abhapuri Primary Health Centre, prompting questions about the functioning of the health department. According to her family, the woman, a resident of Ted village in the Jhirnya area, was brought to the Abhapuri health centre around 6 a.m. by her relatives. They allege that no doctor, nurse, or other health staff were present when they arrived. Had to conduct delivery outside the hospital premises Family member Ravindra Bhuria said that due to the absence of staff, the woman could not receive immediate medical care. As her labour pains intensified, she had to deliver outside the health centre. Local residents later helped care for both the mother and the newborn. Family members expressed suspicion of negligence The family accused the health department of negligence, stating that if the staff had been present, the woman could have been safely admitted and delivered inside the facility. They demanded a thorough investigation and action against those responsible. CMHO said – family members did not reach hospital on time Dr. D.S. Chauhan, CMHO of Khargone district, said that he received information about the delivery outside the health centre. He added that the woman was already in full labour and her relatives did not bring her to the hospital in time. The CMHO also clarified that both the mother and the baby are completely healthy and are currently under medical supervision. The health department is collecting all relevant information about the incident.
