During the Mahashivratri fair at Buddheshwar Mahadev Temple in Badnagar, Ujjain district, Lord Shiva was decorated in a unique way. Notes worth around 1 crore 31 lakh rupees were used to adorn the deity and the temple. Garlands, crowns, and strings made of currency have become the main attraction, drawing large crowds of devotees. The temple hosts a fair every year after Mahashivratri. This year, the fair began on February 14 and will continue until February 28. The special note decorations will remain on display for devotees until Thursday, February 26. The artists meticulously and artistically decorated the temple with notes, giving it a grand appearance. Decoration with notes has been happening for the past 4 years The tradition of special decoration with notes has been going on for the past four years at Buddheshwar Mahadev Temple. Crowd of devotees flocking for darshan A large number of devotees are reaching the temple to witness this unique and grand form of Lord Mahadev. The decoration with currency notes in the temple premises has become the main center of attraction for the devotees. Seven artists prepared the decoration in three days According to the temple priest, it took a team of seven artists about three days to prepare the garlands, crowns, and strings of notes. The artists have given the temple a grand look by creating attractive decorations with notes. Special adornment with notes in previous years too The tradition of special adornment with notes has been continuing in the temple for the last four years. In 2021, adornment was done with notes worth 7 lakh, in 2022 with 11 lakh, in 2023 with 21 lakh, and in 2024 with 51 lakh rupees. In 2025, the temple was decorated with notes worth 1 crore 21 lakh, and this year with 1 crore 31 lakh rupees. Crowd of devotees flocking for darshan Devotees are reaching the temple in large numbers to witness this special form of Lord Mahadev. The decoration made with notes in the temple premises has become a center of attraction.
