At that time, Shivraj Singh Chouhan’s government was in power in Madhya Pradesh. Around 25 thousand positions were filled in the state. In the initial phase, employment assistants were fixed a monthly honorarium of ₹9,000. Later, the government realised that the fixed honorarium was less than the work. Most employment assistants were appointed in their ancestral or residential villages. Computer-related qualifications were given priority in the recruitment process. Class 12th marks and computer degrees like PGDCA were used as the basis for selection. Currently also, most employment assistants are working in the same gram panchayat where they were appointed. At the village level, due to the limited computer operation experience of many gram secretaries, employment assistants are handling the responsibility of digital work and online entries in panchayats.
