The fifth day of the Budget Session of the Madhya Pradesh Assembly began with Question Hour amid discussions on power procurement, recruitment controversies, rail connectivity and irrigation projects. During Question Hour, MLA Ajay Vishnoi informed the House that the Bhopal Municipal Corporation has signed an agreement with a private company for 10 MW of electricity. Under the agreement, the corporation will receive power for nearly 35 years at a rate of ₹3 to ₹3.50 per unit. He said such an arrangement could benefit all municipal corporations. However, smaller municipal councils and nagar parishads may not be able to independently undertake such a process. He suggested that the government prepare a consolidated budget for all urban local bodies and float a joint tender to ensure affordable electricity for them as well. ‘Triangular’ attack over Gwalior Agriculture University recruitment The recruitment process for teaching and non-teaching posts at Gwalior Agriculture University has sparked controversy. Through a calling attention motion, three MLAs are set to demand answers from the government. BJP MLAs Narendra Singh Kushwah and Brijendra Yadav, along with Congress MLA Sahab Singh Gurjar, will seek cancellation of the recruitment process. Notably, two senior BJP legislators joining the opposition in raising the issue has added political significance to the matter. Private members’ resolutions on rail connectivity Several important private members’ resolutions related to regional development and connectivity will be tabled in the House. The most prominent resolution will be presented by Hoshangabad MLA Dr. Sitasaran Sharma, proposing the introduction of a new MEMU train between Itarsi and the state capital Bhopal to ease daily travel for thousands of commuters. Senior MLA Dr. Rajendra Kumar Singh will also present a significant resolution aimed at boosting development in the Vindhya region. The proposal urges the Centre to construct new railway lines connecting Rewa to Maihar via Amarpatan, and Katni to Ramnagar (Maihar district), further extending to Sidhi-Singrauli. If approved, the project is expected to accelerate industrial and social development in the region. For latest update related to the Budget Session of the Assembly, go through the live blog…
