municipal-president-arrested-over-molestation-allegations:audio-surfaces-revealing-conversations-with-women-and-commission-demands;-accused-threatens-self-immolation

The President of Parasia Municipal Council, Vinod Malviya, was arrested on Tuesday evening by Chandameta police. Malviya was on the run in connection with harassment of women and IT Act-related cases. Following his arrest, he is set to undergo a medical examination before further legal proceedings. Alleged misconduct and controversial audio clips The case gained attention after alleged audio recordings surfaced, showing Malviya engaging in inappropriate conversations with women and demanding commissions from contractors. Based on these developments, cases under harassment and the IT Act were registered against him. Following these allegations, the BJP expelled Malviya for six years due to his misconduct and breach of party ethics. Threat of self-immolation Two days prior to his arrest, Malviya uploaded a video on his Facebook account. In it, he expressed suspicion that multiple women were conspiring to falsely accuse him and demanded a fair investigation. He also warned that, in the absence of justice, he could resort to self-immolation along with his wife and children. Public support and complaints to police On Tuesday, several local residents visited the Superintendent of Police’s office in support of Malviya. They alleged that a woman had obstructed a proposed road construction project from Mata Mandir Mohalla to Moksh Dham, prompting false cases against the municipal president. Residents also claimed that the woman had intimidated the local community. The written complaint requested a fair investigation and action against the woman. They also accused SDOP Jitendra Jat of dismissing their concerns when they approached his office. Malviya’s statement to police Malviya told police that conversations with the woman were related to official work. He claimed that the municipal vice president had enabled call recording on his phone, resulting in automatic recordings, and denied leaking any audio. He has submitted his mobile phone to the police for investigation. Content of the alleged audio (The audio includes casual, informal conversations with allegations of manipulation and inappropriate behavior.) Third IT Act case against Malviya This marks the third time that Vinod Malviya has been booked under the IT Act. Earlier cases involved social media posts related to religious matters and a separate incident connected to BJP leader Anuj Patkar. Multiple IT Act cases increase the legal severity of his current situation.
