A minor dispute over a pathway turned deadly in Morena, where around 20–25 men allegedly shot a young man dead on Wednesday morning. The victim was challenged not to pass through the route, and as soon as he moved forward, he was shot. He died on the spot. All the accused are currently on the run. The incident took place around 9am in Rithora village under Sarai Chhola police station limits. The deceased, Mahadeva Gurjar, was passing along the path when villagers identified as Edal Gurjar, Shivram Gurjar and Vakil Gurjar, along with more than a dozen armed associates, surrounded him. According to eyewitnesses, the accused challenged Mahadeva, saying he should try crossing if he had the courage. As he proceeded, they opened fire. The bullet struck his chest, killing him instantly. Tension prevails in the village following the incident. Sarai Chhola police recovered the body from the spot and sent it to the Morena district mortuary, where a post-mortem examination is underway. Elder Brother Says There Was No Prior Dispute The victim’s elder brother, Komal Singh Gurjar, said there had been no old or serious enmity with Edal or Vakil Gurjar. He stated the argument was only about passing through the path and alleged that all the accused have criminal backgrounds. He added that the attackers had been waiting since morning with weapons and challenged Mahadeva as he approached. When he tried to move ahead, they shot him. CSP Dipali Chandoriya said the post-mortem is being conducted and police teams are raiding possible hideouts to arrest the suspects.
