The grand inauguration of Vikramotsav 2026 is going to take place in Ujjain from Sunday. This festival will run from Mahashivratri till March 19. In the evening, CM Dr. Mohan Yadav inaugurated it by lighting a lamp at the Polytechnic College campus. This will be followed by Shivnad and Shankh-Damru performances, after which a ‘Shivoham’ musical evening by renowned musician Pritam will be presented. Major events in this festival will include Kalash Yatra, a grand exhibition based on Indian tradition, and a ‘Shivoham’ musical evening by renowned musician Pritam. Additionally, the Vikram Trade Fair will also be inaugurated, where a road tax exemption of up to 50% will be available on vehicle purchases. The Madhya Pradesh Culture Department, Vikramaditya Research Institute, and District Administration have completed all preparations for the festival. This festival will run from February 15 to March 19, 2026, where a confluence of culture, spirituality, and trade will be witnessed. In the morning, a Kalash Yatra was taken out from the Government Girls College to the Research Institute Office. A special exhibition was inaugurated in the Maharaja Vikramaditya Research Institute Office complex, Vikram Bhawan, and Kalidas Academy complex. In the exhibition, subjects like Vikramaditya and Ayodhya, Aryan India, Mahabharata-era weapons and armaments, Chakravyuh, 84 Mahadev, Tribal Devlok, Shri Krishna Prabhat, and Ragamala have been presented in an attractive manner. This time, there is also a special section based on the Mahabharata, in which models of war formations and detailed information are being provided to the visitors. A total of 223 shops have been set up at the Vikram Trade Fair, including 123 stalls for four-wheelers, 40 stalls for two-wheelers, and approximately 60 food stalls. The state government has approved a rebate of up to 50% on motor vehicle tax (road tax) for vehicles purchased at the fair. Collector Roshan Singh stated that this fair will prove beneficial for both buyers and dealers. In previous years, vehicle sales at the fair have continuously increased. In 2024, 23,705 and in 2025, 36,223 vehicles were sold. Even higher sales are estimated this year.
