The India A Women’s team defeated the Pakistan A Women’s team by eight wickets in the Women’s Asia Cup Rising Stars 2026 tournament in Bangkok on 15 February. With this, India registered their first victory in the tournament after losing to UAE in their campaign opener. Chasing just 94 runs to win, India A women crossed the finish line in just 10.1 overs. This was Pakistan’s first loss in the tournament after starting their campaign with a victory over Nepal. Pakistan bowled out for just 93 after opting to bat first Pakistan’s decision to bat first after winning the toss backfired big time. The team kept losing wickets at continuous intervals and never gained any momentum whatsoever. Saima Thakor (2/14), Radha Yadav (2/11) and Prema Rawat (2/16) took two wickets each. For Pakistan A women’s team, Shawaal Zulfiqar top-scored with 23 runs while Gull Rukh added 21. Anosha Nasir also hit 17 runs. Dinesh Vrinda leads India A’s stellar batting performance Vrinda Dinesh smashed an unbeaten 29-ball 55 to power India past the finish line in the chase. Young Anushka Sharma, who impressed in this year’s WPL, also hit 24 runs. For Pakistan, Waheeda Akhtar and Momina Riasat took one wicket each. India A will next play Nepal on 17 February, while Pakistan’s next match is against the UAE on the same day. No handshake policy continues at toss While India’s dominant performance is certainly the highlight of this match, another incident that drew attention was the fact that both captains did not shake hands at the toss. India A women’s team skipper Radha Yadav and her Pakistan counterpart Hafsa Khalid avoided shaking hands, despite posing for a picture before the match.
