Pakistan had also lodged a protest after India refused to shake hands and said that it was against the spirit of the game. After beating Pakistan in the final, the Indian players had also refused to accept the Asia Cup trophy from Mohsin Naqvi, who is not just the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) chairman but also an interior minister in the country’s government. The no-handshake stance was maintained at the U-19 World Cup as well, where India and Pakistan had met in a decisive Super 6 game on 1 February.
