A 95-year-old man allegedly died by suicide after shooting himself with his licensed rifle in Gwalior. The incident took place on Friday night in Nehru Colony under the Thatipur police station area. The bullet entered through his stomach and exited from his back. Family members rushed in after hearing the gunshot, but he had already died. Police reached the spot after being informed. A suicide note was recovered from the scene. Initial investigation suggests the elderly man was distressed due to ongoing family disputes. The matter is under investigation. The deceased, Ramadhar (95), son of Mangaram Gupta, was a resident of 80-A Nehru Colony. He was a dairy operator and earlier ran a milk dairy in PNT Colony, which is now managed by his son, Suresh Chandra Gupta. On Friday night, Ramadhar was in his room while other family members were occupied with their work. Suddenly, they heard a loud gunshot. When they rushed to the room, they found him lying in a pool of blood. His 12-bore licensed rifle was lying nearby. On checking, they found no pulse and immediately informed his son. Suresh Chandra reached the house and alerted the police. Bullet went through the stomach During the investigation, police found that Ramadhar had been sitting on a chair. He placed the rifle on the ground, positioned its barrel against his stomach and pulled the trigger. The bullet pierced through his abdomen, causing instant death. The body has been taken into custody and sent to the mortuary for post-mortem. Forensic teams also examined the scene. Took his life due to family discord Police said a suicide note was recovered from the room and taken into custody. In the note, Ramadhar reportedly mentioned that he was deeply troubled by family discord, which led him to take the extreme step. Thatipur Station In-charge Vipendra Singh Chauhan said, “An elderly man has died by suicide after shooting himself. The body has been taken into custody and a case has been registered.
