property-feud-explodes-in-guna:businessman’s-daughter-allegedly-attacked-with-acid;-family-assaulted-again-at-police-station

An old dispute between two real estate businessmen turned violent in Guna on Friday, with a family alleging assault and an acid attack during a confrontation over property shares. According to the complaint, members of one party allegedly barged into the house of businessman Arvind Jain, vandalised the premises and assaulted family members. During the attack, the accused allegedly opened a bottle of acid kept in the house for cleaning purposes and poured it on Jain’s daughter, burning her clothes. Jain’s hands were also burned while trying to save her. The family further alleged that when they went to the police station to lodge a complaint, the accused followed them there and assaulted them again, right in front of police personnel. Officers intervened and brought the situation under control. Police said the dispute is linked to long-pending financial transactions and a property settlement. An investigation is currently underway. See, 4 pictures of the dispute… Long-running property dispute Police said Arvind Jain lives in a multi-storey building located opposite Rajiv Gandhi Park in Soni Colony. The property is jointly owned by multiple stakeholders and has been the subject of a prolonged dispute. On February 4, an agreement was reached to divide the shares by mutual consent. However, the other stakeholders allegedly did not honour the agreement, leading to renewed tensions. ‘They hurled abuses and beat us’ In his complaint, Arvind Jain said that Jagdish Rathore, Ruchi Jain, Kusum Rathore, Om Prakash Rathore and others entered his house around noon. “They began hurling abuses. When we objected, they assaulted the entire family,” Jain alleged. He said the accused then poured acid on his 26-year-old daughter. Neighbours rushed in after hearing the commotion, following which the accused fled the scene. Assault alleged at police station After receiving information, a police team reached the spot and asked the family to come to the police station to record their statement. The Jain family alleged that the accused also reached the police station and assaulted them again in front of police officers. Personnel intervened and prevented further violence. Electricity and water supply cut Jain also alleged that a day before the incident, the accused had cut off the electricity supply to his house and uprooted the water jet connection. “They are trying to grab our share of the property and are continuously harassing us through planned actions,” he said. Police said statements are being recorded and action will be taken based on the findings of the investigation.
