The seventh mass girls’ marriage festival is being organised on a grand scale at Bageshwar Dham. On 15 February, 300 brides will undergo the wedding ritual. Before that, the mandap-turmeric ceremony will be held today at the dham, in which Chief Minister Dr Mohan Yadav will arrive around 4:30 pm. To review preparations before the ritual, Dhirendra Shastri reached Annapurna Mandap around 3:30 am between Thursday and Friday on a Bullet bike. Hundreds of male and female volunteers were busy preparing offerings and community meals. The Maharaj, who arrived suddenly, himself sat at the furnace and fried pooris. Dhirendra Shastri walked around and inspected the storehouse, prasad distribution, seating arrangements and security arrangements. The mandap-turmeric ritual will be held on Friday. Mehendi and music programmes are scheduled for 14 February, while the wedding procession of 300 brides will reach the dham on 15 February. Lakhs of devotees from India and abroad are expected to attend. Gurukul inaugurated Meanwhile, storyteller Ramesh Bhai Oja inaugurated the Sanatan Vedic Gurukul at the dham. In the first year, 31 children will be taught Vedic rituals. Four scholars from Varanasi will stay and teach at the gurukul. Several saints and public representatives were present at the programme. MLA also inspected Rajnagar MLA Arvind Pateriya inspected the Annapurna pandal and event venue late at night. Reviewing security, parking, food and facilities for devotees, he said respectful weddings of poor girls have become a tradition of the dham. According to the committee, arrangements are being finalised on Maharaj’s instructions. Preparations have been completed to make the wedding of 300 underprivileged brides historic and well-organised amid an atmosphere of service and dedication.
